The Brighton Saxophone Quartet was formed in 1970 by four members of the Brighton Pops Orchestra at the instigation of Bert Arnold [baritone] a one time consultant to the BBC Radiophonic Workshop and a member of the famous Ambrose Orchestra at the Savoy Hotel, London. When the Brighton Pops Orchestra ceased to function the BSQ continued to rehearse  and increase in stature to the extent of being invited to perform at the 1976 World Saxophone Congress  held at the Royal College of Music. The performance given won them acclaim throughout the world of saxophonists. Of the original quartet only  George Levy remains.

The BSQ’s concert platforms include the Brighton Festival, BBC radio broadcasts, educational master classes, lunchtime concerts, weddings and many other concert venues throughout the Home Counties. Their repertoire consists of music to suit all tastes from chamber music right through the musical spectrum to contemporary classical music and jazz. Many of the arrangements and transcriptions which enhance the quartet’s repertoire are by Bert Arnold, George Levy and Michael Lloyd.

The BSQ is open for engagements i.e. weddings, conferences, parties, concerts etc.

All enquiries should be made to Michael Lloyd: Tel: 01273 778086 or e-mail
